Asbestos Surveys

There are two types of asbestos surveys that TFM can undertake, and it will depend on your needs as to which one we undertake. If you are unsure which type of survey you will require, please get in touch and we would be happy to advise you on the matter.

Worldwide more than 200,000 people die from asbestos-related illnesses. Asbestos removal and disposal if not done in the correct manner can be lethal.
TFM work closely with the HSE to ensure that any projects that we manage are done so in a controlled manner in line with current HSE legislation and guidance notes, ACoPs, and the recommendations of ARCA and UKATA.

The key to maintaining such a high level of safety is early planning and engaging with the client long before our projects begin. Our in-house risk assessments and method statements are tailored to each project and are specific to each task we carry out. We develop safe systems of work planned and undertaken in compliance with BS6187:2011. Each project is undertaken with state-of-the-art high-tech demolition-specific equipment, operated by experienced CPCS and NPORS operatives.

Asbestos Management Surveys

This type of inspection is a standard inspection, which is necessary for buying and disposing of all commercial and industrial property in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. This survey will identify what asbestos-containing materials are present on the property. Furthermore, it will identify the condition of the materials and inform you of your legal obligations in order to be in compliance with legislation outlined by the HSE. This type of survey is non-intrusive, however, it will require samples of materials to be gathered and sent for appropriate testing.

If you have been asked to undertake an Asbestos Management Survey with the purpose of providing an asbestos register for insurance or regulation compliance purposes, this type of survey would provide all of the information set out in Regulation 4 – Duty to Manage commercial and industrial properties built prior to 2002.

Please get in touch if you require an asbestos management survey.

Asbestos Refurbishment-Demolition Surveys

This type of inspection is mandatory for properties that are to be refurbished or demolished in any capacity. Anyone undertaking these types of projects would need an Asbestos refurbishment survey or asbestos demolition survey prior to undertaking any works. This survey is in compliance with HSG264, stipulations outline in the CDM Regulations 2015, and the Control of Asbestos regulations 2012.

The purpose of this survey is to identify asbestos-containing materials, so they can be safely removed or managed in line with your refurbishment/demolition project. These projects are intrusive and damage will occur to the property. Asa a result, it is imperative that the building is owned by the person commissioning the survey and is also vacant at the  point of surveying.
